Grosse Ile College Football Player Earns All-Academic Honors

Majd Khytaz is a 2011 graduate of Grosse Ile High School, where he earned two varsity letters under coach John Bodner.

Two members of the 2013 Wayne State University football squad from Downriver received All-Academic accolades from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season.

Redshirt sophomore place-kicker Majd Khytaz of Grosse Ile, and redshirt senior defensive end Andrew Matt of Wyandotte, Roosevelt High School earned the honors maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.0.

Khytaz is a first-time honoree.

A 2011 graduate of Grosse Ile High School, Khytaz earned two varsity letters for coach John Bodner, made a season-high eight extra points as a senior against Monroe Jefferson and was selected to the 2010 MHSSCA All-State First Team after leading the Red Devils with 24 assists. He also scored 12 goals to earn First Team All-Huron League honors.

Khytaz is pre-med with an emphasis on psychology. He was named to the Coach's Honor Roll for maintaining a grade-point average between 3.0-3.49 during the Winter 2013 semester.
