Andrew Thurlow is the Local Editor for Wyandotte Patch and Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch. A Downriver native and graduate of the Wayne State University Journalism Program, Andrew has worked in a variety of fields within the industry, from local government and sports reporting to automotive and international business news.

Throughout his years at WSU, Andrew worked extensively as a reporter at various daily, weekly and online publications, including the Ile Camera and The News-Herald. He has been awarded for sports and news reporting. In the winter of 2011, he began working as a stringer in the sports department at The Detroit News, covering high school sports including, but not limited to, football, basketball and baseball. After graduating, he immediately landed a full-time position as an intern reporter at Automotive News, the flagship publication under the Crain Communications Inc. umbrella, all the while working nights at The Detroit News. He started from absolute scratch covering business journalism. By the time the term ended, he was covering national and international business news with the rest of the veteran staff. After two years at the Det. News and nearly a year as an auto reporter, Andrew decided to retrace his steps and return to local journalism.
