No Open Date for Coffee Shop at Former A&W in Trenton

Owner Mark Hayes planned to open a new coffee shop in July, but delays have pushed the open date back.

Signs indicating the former use of the building at 2975 W. Jefferson Ave. are gone, but the familiar facade remains as owner Mark Hayes continues to prepare for his new business.

When Hayes, 41, of Grosse Ile, purchased the building in May he said he hoped to have a coffee shop named Elizabeth Perk up and running by the end of July.

Despite delays, Hayes said, "it's been a pleasure working with the City of Trenton"

"They are very business friendly," Hayes said.

Hayes has added several new plans to the original business plan. He wants to add a drive-thru window, an outdoor patio and a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

Hayes said he hopes to open Elizabeth Perk in early spring 2014.
