Athletes Brave the Rain for First Football Practice for 2013 at Trenton High School

Several players said they didn't mind the weather. Many have their sights set on the first game of the season against Wyandotte Roosevelt High School.

Soaked jerseys and slippery surfaces were abound Monday as the Trenton High School varsity football team took the field for the year's first practice.

Athletes braved the rain to work on fundamentals and get to know the plays expected to be used this season.

Head Coach Bob Czarnecki had the practice scheduled to the minute including on- and off-the-field instruction.

Czarnecki said his players kicked off the season by learning new plays and hand signals.

The first game of the 2013 Trenton High School varsity football season begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, according to the Michigan High School Athletic Association website.

Several players said their main goal, right now, is to beat Wyandotte.
