Trenton Chief Offers Gun Control Insight to Congressman John Dingell

Congressman John Dingell concluded a three-day series of constituent meetings Wednesday with community officials and leaders including Trenton Police Chief Jim Nardone.

Trenton Police Chief Jim Nardone met with Congressman John Dingell Tuesday to discuss gun control. Nardone was among other local law enforcement officials, state legislators, mayors, school superintendents, mental health advocacy groups and area sportsmen to discuss the ongoing national conversation surrounding gun violence prevention during a three-day series of constituent meetings, according to a Dingell release. Nardone said many topic were discussed in the meeting including more effective background checks, straw purchases and mental health issues and their influence on gun laws. "We had some meaningful dialogue on how to reduce violent crimes in our community." Nardone elected not to comment on his personal opinions surrounding gun …

Obama Gun Control Proposals Unveiled: What's Your Take?

The president unveiled a sweeping number of proposals Wednesday designed to curb gun violence. What do you think?

President Obama on Wednesday unveiled what is being called the most ambitious gun control agenda in decades, initiating 23 separate executive actions aimed at curbing what he called “the epidemic of gun violence in this country,” according to The Washington Post. Assault Rifle Stolen Out of Residence in Trenton

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police responded to a call about a stolen assault rifle at about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 2000 block of Marian Drive. A 50-year-old Trenton man told police his Armalite .40 caliber assault rifle and two magazines were stolen while he was at a doctor's appointment between 3 and 3:45 p.m. The man said there was no forced entry and his residence was secure when he returned from the appointment. He told police he "believes it was an inside job by someone who has a key to his residence and knowledge of his daily routines," according to a Trenton police report. Police requested a serial number for the weapon, but the man was unable to produce one at the time the incident was reported. The man told police he would contact them later when …

I really feel for the loss of the parents and families but don't think that strict gun control will solve this with the right training and responsibilities people should be able to protect them selves and their families my heart goes out to all of the people involved in these acts of crime but criminals will always find a way to get guns I can go on for hours but I won't god bless all the victims   more ›

Ron, Can you please elaborate how perhaps one specially trained person who could have been in a position to stop, minimize, or delay such an attack is not meaningful? Do you have another idea that could be immediately implemented such as this one that could save more lives sooner?
