St. Paul Sends Troops to Trenton Food Pantry

Carole Tarnowski has been rounding up volunteers for the Trenton Food Pantry since 1975.

The first line of defense against hunger in Trenton is made up of an army of volunteers who belong to churches spread throughout the city. The newest addition to the fight against hunger is St. Paul Lutheran Church. Volunteers from St. Paul have agreed to volunteer each week for one month at the Trenton Food Pantry to sort, stack and send out food for local needy families. Carole Tarnowski has been rounding up troops for the pantry since 1975 including Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack. "The mayor has always been volunteering," Tarnowski said. Tarnowski said volunteers and donations always seem to increase during the holidays, but there is always room for more. Fresh vegetables don't last very long at the food pantry.
