Trenton residents had mixed feelings after finding out Costco won't be coming to West Road in Woodhaven.
Woodhaven City Administrator said the Kmart on West Road is too small for a Costco Wednesday. Mark Kibby commented on a recent Facebook comment alerting Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch readers that the big box store won't be replacing Kmart, which is currently having a store closing sale. Kibby said Costco stores require 15-16 acres, and the Kmart site is around 11 acres. Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook fans had mixed feelings about not getting a Costco near their neighborhood: The comment received two shares, 6 "likes" and 29 comments. Many commenters mentioned a potential for medical offices to use the space, but Kibby said it was not likely and not desired by Woodhaven officials.
