Valentine’s Day can be lovely for sweethearts—but with tons of candy to consume and generic, store-bought cards that will be tossed rather than treasured, it can be a holiday to dread for parents.  Here are 10 tips to make your child’s 2013 Valentine’s Day celebrations more memorable—and kinder to the environment. 1)    Consider ditching the candy and handing out something small, special and fun. Valentine's Day Reservations Going Fast At One of Trenton's Oldest Restaurants

Sibley Gardens has been around for over 60 years and remains one of the most popular places Downriver for lovers to enjoy Valentine's Day.

After more than 60 years, Sibley Gardens continues to be one of the most popular restaurants in Trenton on Valentine’s Day. Reservation slots are rapidly filling up and Sibley Gardens owner Nick Piunti said those wishing to spend an intimate evening together beneath their trademark Tiffany stained-glass light fixtures better hurry. Nick has been at the helm of one of Downriver’s oldest restaurants since 1976, though the restaurant itself has been around since his grandfather, Sam Piunti, built it in 1949. The Piunti family sold the business temporarily in 1955 to 1961, but regained control in 1961. Sibley Gardens has been owned and operated by the Piunti family ever since. When my husband and I were dating some 20 years ago, I decided to try to impress him with a home-cooked meal for Valentine’s Day. The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, right? I knew my man’s stomach was no exception. So off to the market I went for fresh shrimp, wine, flowers and more. I’d seen my mom make a deviled shrimp dish for my dad through the years, and the two always seemed to be happier when tucking forks into this delicious seafood-starring meal.
