Trenton received $100,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding from Wayne County for 2013-14.
The Trenton Historical Museum could be back to its former glory sooner than expected. Trenton Historical Preservation received $70,000 Monday after council members voted in favor of allocating a large portion of the 2013-14 Wayne County Community Development Block Grant for the purpose of fixing up the aging museum. Councilperson Timber Baun-Crooks said she liked where the money is heading. "It's going to preserve a great history of Trenton and I am so relieved that they're going to use their money toward that (museum)," Baun-Crooks said. Just because something is old doesn't mean it should be forgotten. The Trenton Historical Commission is seeking donations to fix up the Trenton Historical Museum. Built in the late 1800s the building is over 100 years old and beginning to show its age. A 2,000 piece puzzle was created to help interest people in donating to the cause and will be on display at different locations throughout Trenton. The puzzle is currently on display at Trenton City Hall. Those willing to donate can sponsor the museum by purchasing a piece of the puzzle for $30. Each time a puzzle piece is purchased the puzzle gets that much closer to completion. The Historical Commission estimate they will need about $60,000 to get the historical museum back into fighting …
