Trenton Student Honored as 2013 National Merit Semifinalist

Trenton High School senior Ian Boettner plans to pursue a career in mechanical engineering from one of two schools to which he has applied -- the Michigan Technological University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ian Boettner was honored at the Trenton Board of Education meeting Monday for being a semifinalist in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Boettner, a senior at Trenton High School, has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring, according to a release by Trenton Public Schools. Boettner thanked the Trenton Public School system and high school Principal Michael Doyle for his success.
