Teens Will Compete to Impress Scouts at Prep Hockey Showcase in Trenton

Athletes from across the country and beyond will descend on Trenton to compete in front of college coaches and scouts at the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League Prep Hockey Showcase Feb. 6-9.

Over 80 scouts packed into the Kennedy Recreation Center last year for the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League (MIHL) Prep Hockey Showcase, and showcase officials are expecting as many or more this year. Over 43 top-ranked high school teams, with hockey players from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ontario, are set to play several games over the four-day event, according to an MIHL release. "There's going to be a lot of great hockey and a lot of scouts come from all over the place," said Tim Beaker operations manager at Kennedy. Downriver area teams Trenton, Wyandotte and Dearborn are expected to play in the showcase. The 13th annual showcase is set for Feb. 6-9. Scouts Gather Under One Roof for a Chance to Pick the Next Hockey Sensation

The MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase is back at the Kennedy Recreation Center in Trenton from Feb. 9-11 to give players a chance to experience top-notch competition and scouts a chance to select the next great hockey star.

Michigan’s best and brightest young hockey players are sharpening their skates and perfecting their slap shots for their chance to take their game to the next level. The 12th Annual Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League Prep Hockey Showcase is back at the Kennedy Recreation Center and high school hockey players from 39 different schools are preparing for a chance to show off their skills. The three-day event pits some of Michigan and Canada's greatest prep hockey teams against one another in exhibition-style play. The excitement starts Thursday, Feb. 9, and continues through Saturday, Feb. 11.
