After gaining national attention over the last two years including becoming the focus of an episode of Dr. Phil, a feud on Detroit Street in Trenton involving the grandmother of a recently deceased young girl and Jennifer Petkov has resurfaced.
After several months of quiet, the feud on Detroit Street has started up once again. Rebecca Rose, whose granddaughter became known across the country after being taunted on Facebook in 2010, was charged with disorderly conduct June 6. Kathleen Edward, Rose's granddaughter, died Jan. 11 after a long battle with Huntington's disease. Rose is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after Jennifer Petkov complained to Trenton Police that Rose made a disparaging remark toward her on the afternoon of May 9. A pretrial is scheduled for Rose on July 5 and a jury trial is set for Aug. 17 at the 33rd District Court in Woodhaven. A Wyandotte judge dismissed an alleged stalking charge against Jennifer Petkov on Thursday.
An alleged stalking charge against Jennifer Petkov was dismissed Thursday at 27th District Court in Wyandotte. Judge Randy Kalmbach dismissed the charge after the prosecution was unable to prove postings on the popular social media website Facebook came from Petkov. The charge was filed in 2011 and alleged Petkov was stalking her ex-husband's girlfriend on Facebook and YouTube. The girlfriend accused Petkov of posting negative comments on her own Facebook page concerning her, sent her negative messages under the user name "MissMarie HatersCallme," and uploaded, onto the web, videos talking about her between March and June of 2011, according to a motion provided by Petkov's attorney Scott Weinberg. A hearing regarding alleged personal protection order violations against the Petkovs was dismissed Thursday.
A judge Thursday dismissed a hearing for Jennifer and Scott Petkov for allegedly violating personal protection orders at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in Detroit. Judge Lita Masini Popke dismissed all four personal protection orders filed by family of Kathleen Edward, a recently deceased 9-year-old girl whom Jennifer admittedly posted doctored photos of on Facebook in 2010. Kathleen died as a result of Huntington’s disease Jan. 11, 2012. As part of an agreement made prior to the dismissal, Jennifer, 34, agreed to continue seeing a court ordered counselor and a psychological evaluation. The Wyandotte family of deceased Kathleen Edward and Jennifer and Scott Petkov were on the Dr. Phil show Monday.
On Monday's episode of Dr. Phil titled "Unforgivable Acts," the feud on Detroit Street took the national stage, just over two weeks after Kathleen Edward died as a result of Huntington's disease. Kathleen's father, Robert Edward, and stepmother, Gabby Edward, both of Wyandotte, and family friend Michelle sat down with Dr. Phil in his studio in Los Angeles before a studio audience. Jennifer and Scott Petkov and Kathleen's grandmother, Rebecca Rose, joined the family in the studio live via satellite. A hearing regarding personal protection order violations was adjourned for the second time Monday for Jennifer and Scott Petkov.
The saga from Detroit Street that became nationally known in 2010 continued to play out Monday as a judge adjourned a hearing regarding alleged personal protection order violations against Jennifer and Scott Petkov. The case was adjourned until Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in room 907 of the Coleman Young Municipal Center. The Petkovs each had two personal protection orders against them. The orders have since expired, and the hearing is set to see if the Petkovs violated the orders while they were still active. A little girl whose story touched more people in two years than others have in a lifetime, Kathleen Kelly Jade Edward, died in Wyandotte due to complications of Huntington’s disease Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012. She was 9 years old. Kathleen’s battle with Huntington’s disease inspired thousands of people who showered her with gifts, good wishes, vacations and prayers. Edward family accuses neighbors of harassing them on Facebook again and shouting at 8-year-old girl with a terminal illness.
After nearly three hours, a judge adjourned a hearing on an alleged personal protection order violation against Jennifer and Scott Petkov on Tuesday afternoon. Judge Lita Masini Popke adjourned the hearing after listening to Robert Edward, 27, and Rebecca Rose, 45, describe several disturbing comments directed toward them and their family on Facebook. Jennifer Petkov, 34, entered the Trenton Police Department at about 9 p.m. Oct. 20 to complain that "unknown persons had opened accounts on the social networking website Facebook in her name," according to a police report. Petkov made national headlines after taunting a terminally ill 7-year-old girl on Facebook. Police said Petkov printed out Facebook pages showing at least six different accounts listed under the name Jennifer Petkov and one listed under her maiden name Jennifer Burnett. Each account had a picture of Petkov as the profile photo. Petkov said she does not have a Facebook account and she found out about the allegedly fraudulent accounts through her sister.
