Red Devils Lose in State Playoffs

The Grosse Ile High School football team finish the season 10-2.

The Grosse Ile Red Devils lost 14-47 to Detroit Country Day in the Division 4 football state playoff game Saturday at Detroit Country Day. The Red Devils finish the season 10-2. Grosse Ile Football Team Faces Dearborn Heights in Round 2 of Playoffs

The Red Devils finished the regular season 8-1 and beat Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy in the first round of playoffs last week.

The Grosse Ile Red Devils seek to advance in the football postseason as they take on the Robichaud Bulldogs of Dearborn Heights at 7 p.m. Friday at Romulus Middle School, 37300 Wick Road in Romulus. The Red Devils finished the regular season 8-1 and beat Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy in the first round of playoffs last week. The Bulldogs are also 9-1 in the postseason after a first round win against the St. Clair Shores South Lake Cavaliers.

Grosse Ile Grad Named Team Captain for MSU Lacrosse Team (PHOTO)

This will be the second year Tyler Ryan was named captain of the Michigan State University lacrosse team.

Grosse Ile High School graduate Tyler Ryan was recently named team captain of the Michigan State University lacrosse team for the 2013 season, according to his father Butch Ryan. Tyler Ryan has started for all four years he has been on the team. This will be his second year as team captain.

Final Regular Season Games Tonight for Trenton, Grosse Ile

The regular season comes to an end for the Trenton Trojans and the Grosse Ile Red Devils tonight with an away game and a home game.

As the Trenton Trojans try to get a final regular season win in Lincoln Park tonight, the Grosse Ile Red Devils will be doing the same thing from home. The Trojans take on the Railsplitters at Lincoln Park High School and the Red Devils take on the Detroit Henry Ford Academy Mustangs at Grosse Ile High School. Both games start at 7 p.m. The 3-5 Trojans have struggled all season with just one win on the road. The Railsplitters have not won a single game all season (0-8). If Lincoln Park wins tonight, it would break their 61 game losing streak spanning over six seasons. The Mustangs have also yet to win a game this season with a record of 0-6, while the Red Devils have lost just one game all season (7-1). The Devils lost to Milan Big Reds 21…

Trenton and Grosse Ile Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

One students from Trenton High School and two students from Grosse Ile High School were selected as semifinalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 1.5 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools across the country entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, but only 16,000 were selected as semifinalists. Of these 16,000, two hail from Grosse Ile and one from Trenton. Among the semifinalists announced Sept. 12 in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program were Grosse Ile High School students Daniel Brausch and Keeton Ross; and Trenton High School student Ian Boettner. These select high school seniors will now compete for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. Ninety percent of the semifinalists are expected to advance to the finalist level and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship and earn the title of…

Fox Sports Detroit to Broadcast Grosse Ile Football Game

In partnership with the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Fox will show certain football games on TV and online this fall.

Michigan's high school football season will get a viewing boost this season with a partnership between the Michigan High School Athletic Association and Fox Sports Detroit, MHSAA announced this week. Sign up for the Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch newsletter. MHSAA Football Friday Overtime on FOX Sports Detroit, as well as high school football on Xfinity, will broadcast varsity football games throughout the season–including the Dearborn High and Fordson rivalry game in September.
