Trenton, Grosse Ile Receive Grants for Tree-Planting

Trenton and Grosse Ile will be the recipients of a combined $3,000 grant to plant trees from a combined group involving DNR and DTE.

Trenton and Grosse Ile are two of 33 communities and organizations in Michigan to receive a grant to plant trees from the U.S. Department of Natural Resources and DTE Energy Foundation Tree-Planting Program. The grants range in price from $1,000 to $3,000 and total more than $73,000. The money will go to a variety of communities thorughout the state. Grosse Ile will receive $1,000 and Trenton will receive $2,000, according to a press release. The program is in its sixteenth year and is intended to improve quality of life within communities by planting trees, according to the press release. Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch reader Alexandria Sroka captured an image of a coyote in Trenton Monday.

Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch reader Alexandria Sroka spotted a coyote Monday and snapped a picture to document the event. Sroka shared the photo on the Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page. She said she took the photo just before crossing the free bridge to Grosse Ile.  "Coyote walking around just before you come over the bridge to Grosse Ile." The free bridge is located on the corner of Grosse Ile Parkway and West Jefferson Avenue in Trenton--just a few steps from Elizabeth Park. I agree with you on this, Tim. There has to be a balance in nature, but if the animal rights people can't see that over population is not good for the animals and they need to be thinned out so as to avoid their suffering, it's only going to hurt them.
