The Golden Apple Award is handed out to school employees in recognition of their outstanding contributions of their time, talent and efforts in support of the students parents and staff of the Trenton Public Schools.
Smiling guests filled the conference room at the Trenton Board of Education Building Monday night to see three Trenton Public School employees receive one of the district's highest honors. Boyd W. Arthurs Middle School teacher Kellie Teska and special educational paraprofessional Karen Bibee and Trenton High School teacher Peter Youngblood were awarded the Golden Apple. One-by-one the recipients were handed a large wooden plaque in honor of their success before board of education members and district officials. In an unprecedented display of enthusiasm for staff, Trenton Public School officials are handing out three Golden Apple Awards at tonight's board of education meeting. James Jennings, custodian at Trenton High School, always has a smile and a pleasant greeting for everyone.
Pass custodian James Jennings in the hallway at Trenton High School (THS) and you'll likely walk away feeling a little better than moments before. Jennings was awarded the Golden Apple Award Monday night at a Trenton Public Schools Board of Education meeting. Jennings won the award via anonymous nomination. Trenton teacher Beth Stackpole is the new Golden Apple Award winner for Trenton Public Schools.
Fighting back tears, Beth Stackpole thanked her family, friends and students for helping her win the Golden Apple Award presented by Trenton Public Schools. Stackpole received the award in front of many of her family members at the regularly scheduled Trenton Board of Education meeting Monday. "I would be remiss in accepting this award on my own," Stackpole said. "My parents have been my rock...and they have raised me to have pride in myself and my community." Trenton teacher Claudia Gaynier received the Trenton Public Schools Golden Apple Award.
Parents, students and fellow Trenton Public Schools staff members filled the Board of Education Building Monday to honor reading recovery teacher Claudia Gaynier. Gaynier, a teacher at Jessie L. Anderson Elementary School, was the newest recipient of the Golden Apple Award given to, "teachers who have exhibited dedication and have made outstanding contribution of time, talent, and efforts in support of the students, parents and staff of Trenton Public Schools" according to a press release. Board president Mike Hawkins presented the award at Monday's regularly scheduled board of education meeting. Trenton Public Schools board members presented Wendy Tsakiris, teacher at R. C. Hedke Elementary School, with the Golden Apple Award.
"There has never been a more deserving person on the face of this earth." Janice Misko, former principal at William C. Taylor Elementary School, gushed about the May 2011 Golden Apple Award winner Wendy Tsakiris, teacher at R. C. Hedke Elementary School. Misko said Tsakiris once worked both with her and for her for three years when she was principal at Taylor. Tsakiris was the reading and recovery teacher at Taylor. Now a teacher at Hedke, Tsakiris maintains the same standard of professionalism and dedication as she did when she worked at Taylor. Taylor Elementary School has since closed due to budget cuts.
