Trenton police declared a snow emergency Thursday, but Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch readers said they had no idea.
A snowstorm Wednesday night forced the Trenton Police Department to declare a snow emergency, which alerts residents to move their vehicles out of the street to make way for snow plows. However, several residents said, on the Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page, they were completely unaware of the snow emergency. Trenton officials typically warn the community of snow emergencies by posting the information on the City of Trenton website and the city's cable channel -- channel 12 with Comcast limited basic cable. The Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page was alive with comments Thursday night following the vice presidential debate.
The late night Facebook-ers have spoken and it appears Vice President Joe Biden was the winner in Thursdays vice presidential debate against Paul Ryan. The Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page came alive immediately following the debate with residents of Trenton and Grosse Ile offering their opinions on the debate and who they believed was the true winner. Of the 17 comments made on the Facebook page, ten said Biden won the debate, four said Ryan won the debate, two said the debate was a draw and one person voted for Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.

Jennie Leung graduated from Trenton High School in 1997 and went on to work at Facebook.
When Micheal Doyle, principal at Trenton High School, received a call from a former student wanting to donate $2,000 to the school -- he immediately agreed. Though Doyle didn't personally know Jennie Leung, who graduated before he became principal at THS, he said he was happy to help anyone willing to donate to the school. "She called out of the blue," Doyle said. Leung graduated from THS in 1997 and eventually moved to California, where she began working for Facebook, according to Doyle. Leung told Doyle she wanted to donate money to specific areas of the school. Through a series of emails Leung told Doyle she wanted $1,000 to go toward the television production department and $1,000 to the math department. She said the teachers she once …

Trenton residents were unhappy, to say the least, about a recent decision to cancel a Splash Park at Elizabeth Park due to high levels of sulfur in well water.
