Construction is underway for a new church and coffee shop in Downtown Trenton.
Construction began last week on a new church and coffee shop located at 2714 W. Jefferson Ave. in Downtown Trenton. Pastor Matt Laginess, 32, of Trenton, helped begin a church called The Bridge in August 2012, and recently purchased a building next to The Perfect Dress to create a place of worship and a coffee shop all in one. Laginess said The Bridge is an Assemblies of God church that attracts a more youthful following, but doesn't exclude anyone. Laginess said he anticipates construction to be completed on the church in time for a service on Easter Sunday, March 31, but did not have have an official opening date set for the coffee shop. A wide wood structure resting among mounds of dirt and sweaty construction workers will soon be the location of one of the most popular coffee shops in the country. A Starbucks is currently under construction on the northwest corner of West and Allen roads next door to Dunkin' Donuts in Woodhaven. The 1790 square foot location is scheduled for a mid-October completion date, according to project manager John Pettersson of Metro Design and Build, the company hired to build the coffee shop. Pettersson said the building is slated for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification due to several "green" building elements including the use of local and environmentally sensitive building materials. I always went to Target Starbucks for my hot choc,yesterday I went to the new Starbucks on west rd in the morning for my hot choc,then later went back foe another one but this time it was not full i was not happy.Paying $3.55 it should be filled to the top.I never had that problem at Target.I went back to west rd the next day still not filled I think they are not filling it because of the whip …   more ›

Let's say normal business hours it is a coffee shop without pushing an agenda and off times a church. You see a lot of churches who cater to a younger crowd doing things like this. Metro South did. I don't see any harm. If you don't want to go, don't go. It is better than a vacant building. It is something good for the community.
