Former Cheeks Bar's New Management Declares Family Friendly Environment

In October 2011, the former manager of Cheeks Sports Bar and Grill painted a mural on the side of the building that residents called offensive and too risque.

The sign above the door as you walk into C Dogz, formerly Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill, announces a new era for the historically controversial bar--"UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT." In October 2011, the former manager of Cheeks Sports Bar and Grill painted a mural on the side of the building that residents called offensive and too risque. The mural was removed after public outcry. Cheeks' name was changed to C Dogs in March 2012. Doug Mott, 32, of Newport, took over operations at C Dogz about a month ago and began pushing for a family-friendly environment that's fit for everyone. Mott said people have already begun to witness a change in the formerly risque environment. "People that come to C-Dogz now say they are going to come back with their friends …

'Controversial' Bar Out, C Dogz In

The bar formerly known as Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill is now C Dogz.

The bar referred to as "controversial" by many Trenton residents, Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill, is now C Dogz. Though bar ownership has not changed the bar's name has according to sources at C Dogz. Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill became the center of attention in October 2011 after a "risque" mural was painted on the west side of the building. Residents became outraged after seeing the mural, which depicted two seemingly nude women bending over. Then manager, Riley O'Neil Miles, began covering up the mural shortly after the controversy began. The bar's owner could not be reached for comment. Check back with Trenton Patch for more information on this developing story.

Cheeks Bar In Process of Covering Up Mural

A controversial mural at Cheeks Bar & Grill in Trenton no longer depicts women in a suggestive nature.

Trenton residents demanded action and they got it. The manager responsible for a mural depicting two seemingly-nude women bending over has started the process of painting over the images. Riley O'Neil Miles, manager, and his brother have begun repainting the outside of Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill with a new and less risque design. Though faded images of the women can still be seen through the paint used to cover them up, Miles said the images would be completely covered up when the process is complete. Miles said weather conditions play a large role in the speed at which the mural is completed. The mural became a hot issue in Trenton after people living in the neighborhood near Cheeks began complaining to local media and city administrators…

Cheeks Bar Manager Talks About Plans for Controversial Mural

The manager of Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill said a mural depicting risque women will soon be painted over and replaced with something new.

The outside wall at Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill will no longer depict two women in high-heels bending over. Instead the bar's manager, Riley O'Neil Miles, has created a new plan for the mural, and said the community should have no more issues with the exterior of the building. Miles said the new mural will be similar to the original idea, but without the women. As soon as the weather improves Miles said he will finish the mural by adding a crown, the name of the bar and, possibly, permanent food specials. The original mural drew criticism from nearby residents who said it was not suitable for children and the neighborhood. Miles said he is trying to draw more of the community into the bar instead of deflecting potential customers. The inside…

If you are worried about your children seeing black silhouettes of girls then your children are in real trouble from you and the real world. I feel sorry for any child that has this hovering parent. Where was the nudity? It was a black. Be a good parent and talk to your children and explain the difference between black silhouettes and real girls. There is a huge difference. How do these children …   more ›

Manager Decides to Cover Up Risque Mural on Cheeks Bar in Trenton

The manager of Cheeks Sports Bar and Grill in Trenton has decided to cover up an outdoor mural that has caused a heated debate among residents.

Management has decided to cover up a mural depicting two women bending over in high-heels outside Cheeks Sports Bar and Grill in Trenton. Cheeks manager Riley Miles said the mural will be painted over as soon as the weather breaks. Miles has to wait for dry weather, so the new paint on the outside of the building dries properly and can sufficiently and permanently cover the mural. Miles, who commissioned the mural, said he respects residents' opinions, particularly about what the children of Trenton see outside the bar. Residents of Trenton began complaining about the mural soon after work on it began. Neighbors complained to city officials, including Mayor Gerald Brown, and on Trenton Patch that the mural was inappropriate for children. …

I was glad to see the suggestive murals go. This is a suburban neighborhood with young families. It's one thing to have a friendly neighborhood bar, quite another to have a bar that promotes and attracts suggestive behavior. It does not make a person feel comfortable walking or driving down the street. I have lived here for almost 40 years, and there has never been anyone walking in the area …   more ›

Police: Man Allegedly Assaulted at Cheeks Bar

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police were called to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center to take an assault report from a 44-year-old man who was allegedly injured in the face in the parking lot of Cheeks Sports Bar and Grill at about 4:15 a.m. Oct. 9. The man’s fiancee told police she was standing outside near the back of the bar at around 2 a.m. when a friend advised her that the man was lying on the ground unconscious in the parking lot in front of the bar. She said her fiance had been struck on the right side of his face and was bleeding and she drove him to his home, but later took the man to Southshore after she “saw the injury to his face was serious," according to a police report. She told police she did not know what happened to the man or how he received…

Trenton Residents Call New Mural at Cheeks Bar Offensive, Too Risque

A new mural on an exterior wall at Cheeks Bar has some Trenton residents calling it "offensive" and demanding it be painted over.

Neighbors are complaining about a new mural depicting the silhouettes of two partially nude women bending over on the outside of Cheeks Sports Bar & Grill. The mural, which went up Friday, covers nearly the entire west side of the exterior of the building. Some neighbors are saying the mural is inappropriate—even "darn close" to pornography—and should be painted over. Trenton residents living in the area surrounding Lions Park on Toledo Street and Julie Drive pass the building on a regular basis. According to one parent, school buses pass the west side of the bar in order to drop off children who live in the area. Linda Horner, 47, passes the mural nearly every day and said the mural reminds her of something you might see outside of a …
