Beyond the gift-giving, decorations, baking and holiday festivities, being 'home for the holidays'Read More is what I cherish most about Christmas. Several years ago, my daughter was in the hospital, undergoing chemo treatment for stage 4 hepatoblastoma, a rare, childhood liver cancer. I vividly recall laying beside her in the hospital bed, watching her favorite musical, Annie...hoping and praying that she would be released before Christmas, to enjoy the holidays in the comfort of home with her sisters. This was my one and only wish many Christmases ago. It was a wish I could not purchase, a gift that money could not buy. Thankfully, my wish was granted; our baby girl was released before Christmas Eve. We've been blessed with 13 Christmases since her cancer ordeal and the memory of my wish has slowly faded. The blessing of a healthy, happy family 'home for the holidays' is definitely what I cherish most.

The holidays to me are about being with your family and spending time doing whatever tradition yourRead More family has created over the years. I think it's very important to keep family traditions alive and continue to pass them down. The memories I share with my freinds and family over the holidays are times I will always cherish. I think it's important to always be thankful for what you have and help others when you can. My work adpots families every year for Christmas and we shop, wrap and deliver the gifts to the families. I like to be one of the elves that delivers the gifts to see the happy faces of the people we impacted at such a special time. It's important to remember these times should be more about family because that is the best gift anyone could have!
