12th Annual Trenton Scarecrow Festival Celebrate fall in just about every way imaginable this weekend in downtown Trenton. Attractions include a scarecrow building contest, "Scarecrow Idol," pumpkin toss, an eating contest, a carnival, live music and tons more. The event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
Roundhouse BBQ Oktoberfest Grab a craft beer and a German pretzel and take in some great local bands Friday and Saturday night at Roadhouse BBQ, 2760 West Jefferson Ave. in Trenton. The event is part of Scarecrow Festival. For $15 in advance or $20 at the door, you'll get a beer mug, seven tickets for beer tasting and a food ticket.
Halloween Hayrides at Westcroft Gardens In the mood for something spooky this weekend? Hop on a "Phantom Forest" hayride at Westcroft Gardens in Grosse Ile. Hayrides take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 27 starting at 7 p.m. It is designed to be fun for all ages, and not TOO scary for the little ones. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children 5 and under. Price includes a drink and snack by the bonfire. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Trenton Fire Department Open House If your kids love fire trucks (and what kid doesn't?), bring them over to the Trenton Fire Department Saturday from 11 a.m. 2 p.m. They'll have a chance to meet the firefighters, too. The event takes place at at Station One, located at 200 Maple in Trenton, next to the police department.
Huron Township Applefest To get a double dose of fall festivals in one weekend, head west to Huron Township to take part in the 34th annual Applefest. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday on the banks of the Huron River near downtown New Boston. Highlights include a parade, fiddlers contest, apple pie contest, a 5K and more.
