Be a Superhero at Farmer Charley's Corn Maze This Saturday

Plus West Grange Pharmacy's Business of the Year Bash, the grand opening of the Horsemill Bike Path and more events to enjoy this weekend in and around Trenton and Grosse Ile.

Ronald McDonald House Day at Farmer Charley's
Bring the kids to this once annual event on Saturday at Farmer Charley's corn maze in Monroe, which include hayrides, a pumpkin patch, bonfires, pig races, steer roping, and much more. Ronald McDonald himself will make a special appearance from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as his or her favorite superhero and take a walk in the superhero-themed corn maze. A portion of ticket sales will go to the Ronald McDonald House of Southeastern Michigan.

West Grange Pharmacy's Trenton Business of the Year Bash
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., head over to West Grange Pharmacy to help them celebrating being Trenton's 2013 Business of the Year. The event will feature Big Al of the Dick Purtan as emcee. Downriver's own Lilly Picadilly will entertain the kids and there will be many family-friendly activities such as crafts, music, prizes, face painting, contests, food and more. The pharmacy is located at 3390 West Rd. in Trenton.

Yoga, Live Music and Kids' Activities in the Park
What better way to enjoy the fall sunshine than a little yoga in the park? Join Yoga 4 Peace Saturday at Kiwanis Park in Southgate for its second annual fundraiser. The event includes yoga, live music, refreshments and train rides and hoola hooping for kids. The park is located at 13901 Leroy St. in Southgate and the event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for ticket information.

Celebrate Michigan Trails Week on the Detroit Riverfront
If yoga's not your cup of tea, head over to Milliken State Park on the Detroit Riverfront Saturday to explore the area's natural wetlands, hear a local herbalist talk about edible plants native to the area, and rent a bike from Wheelhouse Detroit or a Segway from Semseg to ride on the Dequindre Cut. The park is located at 1900 Atwater in Detroit and guided wetland tours are at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Horsemill Bike Path Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Sunday, celebrate the opening of Grosse Ile’s newest bike path with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m.. The public is invited to attend, and encouraged to bike, walk or jog there! Refreshments and cookies will be provided by Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church. The event will take place at the intersection of Horsemill and Parke Lane, near the church.
