5 Ways to Celebrate Fall in Metro Detroit This Weekend

From Oktoberfest in Grosse Pointe Park to Plymouth's Chili Cookoff, fall is in the air in southeast Michigan.

Grosse Pointe

Oktoberfest at Atwater in the Park
Grab a beer and get a sneak peek at Atwater Brewery's soon-to-be location in Grosse Pointe Park, which isn't set to formally open until April of 2014. The event will feature German-style beer and food, along with music by the Polish Muslims, and celebrates the completed construction of the restaurant's biergarten. 
When: Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Atwater in the Park, 1175 Lakepointe, Grosse Pointe Park
Price: $20, includes food and drink.

Plymouth

18th Annual Chili Cookoff
Put your tastebuds to the test at the Great Lakes Regional Chili Cookoff, where you can sample more than 50 different kinds of chili from local chefs and restaurants. Each year, the event draws tens of thousands of people to downtown Plymouth and also includes a motorcycle show, live bands, kids activities and food and vendor booths.
When: Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Kellogg Park, downtown Plymouth
Price: Free to attend. Chili samples and other food available for purchase.

West Bloomfield

Fall Fest
Games, crafts, live music and sheep shearing await at West Bloomfield's Fall Fest. There will also be petting farm, pony rides and more kid-friendly activities at this family-oriented event.
When: Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where:
 Marshbank Park, 2805 Hiller Rd, West Bloomfield
Price: Free to attend. Charges for some activities and food is available for purchase. 

Bloomfield Hills

Corn Maze at Bowers School Farm
Try your luck at navigating more than three miles of mazes through tall corn fields at the Bowers School Farm, for the annual Corn Maze, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Once you're done, enjoy wagon rides, a straw maze for toddlers, pumpkin picking, farm animals, pony rides and s'mores.
When: Activities run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Where:
 Bowers School Farm, 1219 E Square Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills
Price: Admission is $8 for people ages 12 and older; $6 for children between ages 6 and 11. Children 5 and under get in free.

Trenton

12th Annual Scarecrow Festival
Celebrate fall in just about every way imaginable this weekend in downtown Trenton. Attractions include a scarecrow building contest, "Scarecrow Idol," pumpkin toss, an eating contest, a carnival, live music and tons more. The event runs.
When: Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where:
 Downtown Trenton, at the intersection of West Jefferson and West Road
Price: Admission and parking are free. There is a charge for carnival rides and food is available for purchase.
