10 Metro Detroit Charities Compete in Suburban Collection $40K Giveaway

Vote daily for your favorite charity in The Great Charity Giveaway from now through 5 p.m. Friday.

Ten Detroit-area charities are competing for $40,000 this week in The Great Charity Giveaway sponsored by .

Established last year by the Troy-based automotive retail group, the winners of this year’s annual competition will be determined by visitors to The Suburban Collection’s website, www.SuburbanCollection.com, or their Facebook page

In voting earlier this month, 10 charities were selected as finalists from 76 organizations nominated by local supporters. The 10 finalists are:

  • South Oakland Shelter (SOS)
  • The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation
  • Friends For The Dearborn Animal Shelter
  • Animal Aid Foundation
  • Angels’ Place
  • Paws for Life
  • Home FurEver Rescue
  • Lighthouse of Oakland County
  • Cass Community Social Services

“Our area is blessed to have so many groups who provide vital services to the citizens of Southeastern Michigan,” said David T. Fischer, chairman and CEO of The Suburban Collection.  “Supporting local, regional and national organizations dedicated to enhancing our educational services, children and family assistance and enhancing the quality of life in our communities has been important to us for over 60 years.  The Great Charity Giveaway is designed to provide financial support and highlight the importance of ten great local organizations.”

Individual support for the 10 finalists will be tallied by votes made on the internet between now and 5 p.m. on Aug. 31. One vote per day by visitors to the contest site is permitted.

The charity receiving the most votes will receive the top award of $15,000 from The Suburban Collection. Additional contributions of $10,000, $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 will be given to the organizations placing second through fifth place, respectively. The remaining five charities will each receive $1,000.                 

The Suburban Collection is the 15th largest dealer group in the United States, with over 40 automotive franchises and over 30 dealership locations in Michigan, Florida and California.
