Want a Chance to Drive a Tunnel Boat Like Those at Roar on the River in Trenton?

Head down to Roar on the River at Elizabeth Park in Trenton this weekend for a chance to win a free tunnel boat driving lesson valued at more than $350.

The American Power Boat Associations Outboard Performance Craft Drivers School is an opportunity to drive a tunnel boat more than 75 mph with as much as four times the normal weight of gravity, according to the official webpage.

The school's Crew Chief Jim Fox said drivers rarely hit those speeds, but are required to undergo rigorous training before getting behind the wheel of a tunnel boat.

"The student drivers have to escape from a capsule while underwater in a pool," Fox said.

Fox added, the training offers a real life experience of what it might be like to crash a tunnel boat at high-speed.

Detroit radio station WRIF is giving away a free spot at the next drivers school, which is a value of more than $350. Visit the PNC Roar on the River website to learn more.
