Guide to Roar on the River 2013 at Elizabeth Park in Trenton

There's something for everyone at Roar on the River July 19-21 at Elizabeth Park in Trenton including a pirate-themed party, plenty of boat races, a Children's Fun Fair and live music from national acts like Bo Bice and Rare Earth--to name a few.

The men and women of the American Power Boat Association are getting their engines ready for the UMI/APBA World Championships at Elizabeth Park in Trenton.

The three-day event sponsored by PNC Bank begins at 6 p.m. Friday, July 19 with a pirate-themed party.

Popular Detroit radio station WRIF will be broadcasting live from 7 p.m. to midnight as party goers dressed in their finest pirate garb enjoy food from several regional restaurants and snack shops at Taste of the Races.

WRIF is giving away one ticket to the Outboard Performance Craft Driving School.

Tickets for Taste of the Races are $35 in advance or $40 at the time of the event and can be purchased online or at these locations: Trenton City Hall, 2800 Third St.; Jocks & Associates, 3630 West Road; Drs. Jackson, Snider & Parker, 254 West Road and Mans Lumber, 3300 W. Jefferson Ave.

Tickets get you all-you-can-eat from the main tent restaurant participants and two drink tickets. Additional drink tickets for soft drinks, water, beer, wine and wine coolers are also available.

  • Mike Leslie Band from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • American Idol runner-up Bo Bice from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • War Machine (KISS tribute band) from 10 to 11:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 20
  • The Bomb Squad from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • The Infatuations from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. 
  • Rare Earth from 10 to 11:15 p.m.

Rumble on the River

  • On Saturday motorcycle enthusiasts can rumble near the river for just $10. Fee includes a priority parking spot and two drink tickets. Detroit radio station WCSX will be broadcasting live from the event. All proceeds benefit the Penrickton Center for Blind Children. Parking begins at 5 p.m.

Saturday, July 20
  • Testing SST 45 World Championship from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m.
  • Junior Hydros 3-lap heats from 9:50 a.m to 10:30 a.m.
  • Testing for SST 200 World Championship at 10:45 a.m.
  • SST 200 World Championship 1-lap time trials at 11:15 a.m.
  • Opening Ceremonies, National Anthem at noon
  • SST 45 World Championship 1-lap time trials at 12:15 p.m.
  • SST 45 World Championship - Heat 1 at 12:45 p.m.
  • Stock outboard marathon at 1:30 p.m.
  • SST 200 World Championship - Heat 1 at 2 p.m.
  • SLT Inflatables at 2:25 p.m.
  • SST 45 World Championship - Heat 2 at 3:30 p.m.

  • SST 45 World Championship - Final Heat at 2:45 p.m.
  • SST 200 World Championship - Final Heat at 3:45 p.m.
  • Awards ceremony for all classes at 5 p.m.

For the Kids

  • The Children's Fun Fair goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Jet Ski Show

  • Typhoon Tommy Jet Ski Shows begin at 1:50 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and 12:50 p.m., 2:10 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. Sunday.
