Free Kayak Rental Thursday at Elizabeth Park

Riverside Kayak Connection of Wyandotte is opening a kayak rental station at Elizabeth Park on June 7.

Bring water shoes and a plastic bag for valuables to at 4 p.m. Thursday for free kayak rentals sponsored by Riverside Kayak Connection in Wyandotte.

The free day of kayaking was created to promote the business's grand opening of a new kayak rental area located near the park entrance.

Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack is expected to be on site for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Anita M. Twardesky, Community Outreach Manager for Riverside Kayak Connection, said all are welcome to come out and enjoy the thrill of kayaking absolutely free -- for one day only.

"Have your Up North fun, Downriver," Twardesky.

She added the summer program is also great for events like family reunions, company team building, tours, mobile workshops for conferences and much more.

Kayaks will be driven to the park by trailer and displayed along the riverbank just inside the park.

After Thursday, kayak enthusiasts and first timers alike can expect to pay $10 per person for a half hour of kayaking. Boaters can pay by cash or check.

The rental fee includes a boat, paddles and life vest.

Boats will be available Thursday and Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Riverside Kayak plans to provide rentals at Elizabeth Park now through Labor Day.
