Air Quality Alert Issued for Southeast Michigan on Tuesday

Residents are encouraged to use mass transit if possible and to combine errands into a single trip.

The prolonged heat will continue into Tuesday, causing the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to declare Tuesday as an Air Quality Action Day throughout Southeast Michigan including Trenton.

Residents are encouraged to take a number of preventative steps, including:

  • Defer using gas-powered engines.
  • Walk, bike, carpool or use mass transit if possible.
  • Link errands into one trip.
  • Conserve energy.
  • Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Rain is possible over the next couple days, but the chances are slim, according to the alert.
