Trenton Falls To Woodhaven in Homecoming Thriller
The Trojans and Warriors gave the packed homecoming crowd a night they won't forget for some time. In the end, Trenton fell short, losing 41-34.
The hard fought and edge-of-your-seat exciting game came down to the final play. The Trojans had the ball on the four-yard line with four seconds left in the game and down seven points. Quarterback Chad Hamilton, looking for his fourth touchdown of the evening and biggest of his career, rolled out left and zipped a pass over the middle to his wide receiver.
The ball sailed just out of reach. Buzzer sounds. Game over. Heartbreak.

The Trojans and Warriors came into the game knowing what was on the line—winner all but locks in a playoff spot. Loser has to pray for a miracle.
Unfortunately, Trenton is now the team left praying for the miracle.

But, after the pain fades away from the emotional loss everyone involved should remember Friday night for the great performances turned in by the Trojans and Warriors.
The Trojans got on the board first with a touchdown pass from Hamilton to Jason Barbosa, who had another monster game for the Trojans. The Trojans led after the first, 7-0, but it was just a matter of time before the explosive Woodhaven offense led by quarterback Nick Maher would get going.
In the second quarter, the Warriors got going—but so did the Trojans. The teams traded blows like prize fighters. First, Woodhaven scored 14 unanswered points to start the quarter before Hamilton hit Barbosa again on a beautiful 64-yard touchdown pass. Woodhaven scored again on a long pass from Maher.Trenton bounced right back with another touchdown pass from Hamilton to Barbosa.
The Warriors caught a huge break on the next possession when a fumble bounced right back in the hands of Maher who then busted a long touchdown run to take a 28-21 lead. Trenton tied the game as the first half expired on a beautiful trick play that resulted with a 70-yard touchdown by star running back Michael Czarnecki who returned to the lineup for the first time since the second game of the season.
The second half saw the defenses make some adjustments as Czarnecki was responsible for the only Trenton points the rest of the game. The missed extra point left the score at 35-34. Maher had to leave the game in the third quarter due to injury, but Woodhaven still was able to manage one last touchdown with four minutes to play. The failed extra point gave Trenton life, down 41-34 needing just seven points to tie the game.
The Trojans marched down the field in a thrilling final drive. A hard Czarnecki run here. A clutch Barbosa catch there. Even Hamilton made a clutch quarterback keeper to convert a key fourth down to keep the drive alive.
They got down to the four-yard line and had three shots at the endzone to tie the game, but just couldn't make it happen.
The Trojans could possibly make the playoffs still, but the odds are certainly not very good. The win tonight all but ensures the postseason for the Warriors. That's what made Friday night even more heartbreaking for Trenton fans. But, whether you were for Trenton or Woodhaven the battle between these two teams certainly had your heart going.
In other action, Friday night was Trenton High School's homecoming night. The game was preceded by a parade and halftime had the annual homecoming court.
