NHL Star Andy Greene Donates Jerseys to Trenton High School Hockey Team

New Jersey Devil Andy Greene was like a thin, athletic Santa Claus last week when he sneaked into the locker room at Kennedy Recreation Center.

The Trenton High School hockey team suited up last week in their traditional white jerseys and took the ice at Kennedy Recreation Center for a pregame warm up. When they returned to the locker room their faces lit up as if it were Christmas morning.

While the players warmed up, NHL star and former Trojan Andy Greene went from locker to locker hanging new jerseys for each player like a much thinner and far more athletic Santa Claus.

Greene, who plays for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League, purchased new gold home jerseys for the entire team.

"When they went into the room and saw them hanging, there was a tremendous amount of excitement," Head Coach Mike Turner said.

In honor of Greene's status as captain of his former team, he also received a jersey, 8, marked with a "C." Administrators retired Greene's jersey and number after the game.

After players settled down from the excitement of receiving new jerseys, they thanked Greene and shook his hand.
