Trenton Students Get Short School Day for Gracious Efforts

After collecting 10,000 cans of food the students at Arthurs Middle School and Trenton High School get to leave school early Friday.

Getting out of school early is great.

Getting out of school early because the high school and middle school students collected 10,000 cans of food for charity is even better.

The Trenton Goodfellows and the Trenton Food Pantry have 10,000 cans as a result of a joint effort by and according to a district newsletter.

For their efforts the students at each school have a shortened school day Friday, Dec. 23.

  • Students at Trenton High School will be released at 1:25 p.m.
  • Students at Arthurs Middle School will be released at 2 p.m.

The schools met their goal of 10,000 cans. Middle school students collected 6,000 cans and high school students collected the remaining 4,000.

High school students also donated 800 toys to Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor and middle school students continue to collect clothes for people in need at Arthur's Closet.

*A newsletter sent out by Trenton High School administration on Thursday listed the date of early release as Friday, Dec. 22 and the time for middle school students to be 1:20 p.m. The actual date and time is provided above.
