Trenton School Board Member to Run for City Council

Trenton Board of Education member Thomas Kinney is expected to run for Trenton City Council.

Trenton Board of Education member Thomas Kinney has decided to run for city council.

Kinney is one of nine other candidates running for three open seats on Trenton City Council.

Kinney said Trenton City Council will need experience after two long-time council members decided not to seek re-election. He believes his experience on the school board would make him a strong candidate for city council.

Councilmen Tim Taylor and Terrence Teifer both decided not to seek re-election.

Councilwoman Timber Baun-Crooks, who termed out this year, will seek re-election.

Trenton City Clerk Trish Grearhart said Kinney would have to resign from the school board if he is elected to council.

"If he does not get elected he can retain his seat," Gearhart said.
