Touchdown Club Sells Cups for Scholarship Bucks

If you want to help seniors offset some of their upcoming college costs, you can do so by buying Spirit Cups through the .

The fundraiser is a scholarship fund created by the Trenton Touchdown Club (TTC) to raise scholarship money for graduating seniors who have been part of Trenton High School’s football program throughout their high school career.

For the past two decades, eligible athletes have received money to put toward their college tuition. Most of the kids who qualify their freshman year receive the scholarship upon graduation. The money is raised through a series of fundraisers put on by the club.

“We are trying to raise enough money to give each kid one thousand dollars,” said Peggy Jernigan, the woman spearheading the fundraiser. “But the kids who qualify must hold up their end of the bargain.”

Throughout the course of the year, the TTC puts on a variety of fundraising events to raise money for the scholarship fund, but it’s also the responsibilities of the students and their families to do their part.

“The kids have to participate in some activities, like participating in a car wash or volunteering at a booth at the Trenton Street Fair,” said Jernigan. “The parents must also stay involved by attending a pre-determined number of TTC meetings.”
