School Board to Discuss Schools of Choice

Trenton Board of Education members will discuss open enrollment Monday.

members are set to discuss the issue at Monday's regularly scheduled meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Education building.

At the last meeting, interim Superintendent Larry Leapley suggested Schools of Choice to board members, but the issue was not discussed.

Other items on Monday's agenda include:

  • A curriculum report, which addresses curriculum, school improvement and literacy strategies.

I would rather pay a millage than open the schools to school of choice. I moved here because this school district was not open to schools of choice.

Too bad Trenton couldn't have opened a Gifted and Talented charter school years ago to pull G&T students in from all of Downriver....too bad one school board member at the time felt that that would produce elitists...well, at least they have gotten that part right...."no 'outsiders' in our school system," only elite Trenton children.
