School Board Members Select Golden Apple Winner

Rhonda Baker received the Golden Apple Award at Monday's Board of Education meeting.

Trenton Board of Education members honored Rhonda Baker with the Golden Apple Award for her work with a clothing drive at .

Baker volunteers at a clothing drive called Arthurs Closet located at the middle school. She sorts donated clothes, organizes other volunteers and makes sure the clothes get to the people who need them most.

“We really appreciate her hard work and the time she has been putting in,” said Stephanie O’Connor, principle at Arthurs Middle School.

Board President Dennis Bearden said Baker was nominated for her professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.

Bearden said she is a consistent and reliable volunteer who does a great job of making the clothing drive work with a “practically zero budget.”

“We really do appreciate her efforts throughout the year and probably over many years,” Bearden said.

Winners of the award are nominated by students, parents and staff of . Each winner possesses certain qualities that make them eligible including dedication, a positive attitude, dependability, self-motivation and helpfulness to name a few.

Baker received the award at Monday's board of education meeting. She attended the meeting with her husband and three children.
