No More Smoking On School Grounds

Trenton Board of Education members voted Monday to ban all smoking on school property.

The Board of Education of Trenton Public Schools banned all use of tobacco products from all school property Monday at a regularly scheduled board meeting.

The ban will go into effect April 1, 2011 and will include all events that take place on school property. The ban pertains to school and non-school related events that take place on school grounds.

Superintendent John Savel asked that the ban not be made effective immediately, so the district has time to alert people and order signs to warn people of the new ban.

According to a school official the signs could take two to three weeks to order and receive.

The new ban is a revision of an old ban that restricted people from using tobacco products on school grounds before 6 p.m.
