Trenton Veterans Memorial Library Closed Sundays Through Summer

There are now no public libraries open on Sundays this summer in Wayne County.

Budget belt-tightening caused Trenton officials to close Trenton Veteran Memorial Library on Sundays this summer.

The library is closed Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Sept. 2.

The new hours were recommended by the Trenton Library Commissions and approved by Trenton City Council members on May 20 at a regularly scheduled city council meeting.

  • Cut cleaning crew by one day per week.
  • Decreased utility costs.
  • Decreased substitute staffing costs.

Stack added Trenton officials are currently looking into more cost cutting measures.

"We still have some work to do," Stack said. "The budget is balanced."
