Trenton Mayor, Police Chief Request Trenton Businesses Stop Selling K2 and Spice

Though no Trenton businesses have been found to be selling synthetic narcotics like K2 or Spice, Police Chief Jim Nardone and Mayor Kyle Stack said they wanted to be proactive on the issue.

Trenton Police Chief Jim Nardone and Mayor Kyle Stack requested that any Trenton businesses selling synthetic narcotics like K2 and Spice pull them off their shelves Tuesday.

Though no Trenton businesses have been found to be selling synthetic narcotics, Nardone said he and his officers .

"I would ask business owners that are selling these substances to pull them from their shelves and be responsible to the community that they do business in," Nardone said. "Because these substances are killing our children."

No instances of Trenton residents being harmed by synthetic narcotics have been reported.

Nardone said synthetic narcotics are not illegal, but "the community and the businesses need to be involved in stopping these substances."

Nardone said a spokesperson of state Rep. Andrew Kandrevas' office told him substances like K2 and Spice will be made illegal soon.

"I made contact with Representative Kandrevas' office and they expect that these substances will be outlawed in the next 30 days," Nardone said.

Stack said she hopes any businesses selling the items will remove them from their stores because of the potential danger they cause to residents.
