Trenton 2013 August Primary Election Guide

The primary election is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6, when ten candidates will be narrowed down to six.

Today voters will participate in what might be one of the most exciting primaries in the history of Trenton. Ten candidates are running in the Trenton City Council race, a record number according to City Clerk Trish Gearhart.

The 2013 August Primary Election is set for Tuesday, August 6. Voters will narrow 10 candidates for city council down to six. There is nothing else on the ballot.

There are three seats available with four-year terms. The top six vote getters will be placed on the ballot for the November Election.

Absentee ballots are available at Trenton City Hall. Voters must first fill out a form before they can vote absentee. Contact the Trenton City Clerk's Office for more information 734-675-8600.

At this time, the only item on the November ballot will be the council race, unless there is a proposal from the city, Wayne County or State of Michigan to add to the ballot, according to Trenton City Clerk Trish Gearhart.

The deadline to add to the November ballot is August 13th. 

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Polling locations can be found below and in the PDF in the photo section of this article.

Polling Locations

  • Precinct 1: Trenton City Hall, 2800 Third Street (This precinct is combined with the residents from north Trenton who once voted at the Haas Park polling location).
  • Precincts 2, 3 and 6: Westfield Activities Center, 2700 Westfield (formerly Anderson Elementary School).
  • Precincts 4 and 5: Kennedy Recreation Center, 3101 West Road (formerly Hedke Elementary School).
  • Precinct 7: Knights of Columbus Hall, 5474 W. Jefferson Ave. (formerly Taylor Elementary School)
