Patch Picks: Top Picnic Spots

It's springtime! So enjoy the sun, warm weather, and scenery while picnicking in the park at one of Patch's Picks for top picnic spots.

  • The Scene: The first county park established in the state of Michigan, Elizabeth Park is a historic landmark in Trenton and the perfect place to enjoy lunch. Relax in their large picnic area after grabbing a hot dog and float from the nearby take a stroll along the riverwalk, and enjoy the company of the other community members that are fishing, cycling, skating, or participating in any of the other popular activities at Elizabeth Park.   

  • The Scene: Located along the Detroit River, Rotary Park is an ideal location to appreciate the outdoors and the scenic waterfront. The picnic facilities include grills for cooking, so whip up some burgers with friends and unwind over lunch under the picnic pavilion.  Not in a hurry? Take a stroll down the dock, or partake in a friendly game of baseball for some great exercise!

  • The Scene: Kennedy Recreation is the perfect place for a weekend afternoon picnic with your family. Pack up a picnic basket and begin your day with lunch in their picnic facilities. More than your ordinary park, Kennedy Park offers amenities to turn your lunchtime picnic into a fun-filled day. The bike path, outdoor pool, soccer field, and roller blade court, among others, will enable your family to enjoy all the healthy benefits of outdoor recreation. 

  • The Scene: Home of the , Haas Park is a kid’s dream. A park with plenty of open green space, Haas Park is a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch on the grass, with plenty of room for your kids to run around after they eat! Bring a kite to fly on a clear sunny day, or a tennis racket to take advantage of the park’s courts.

  • The Scene: Embrace lunch in the great outdoors at North McLouth Park, home to small wildlife that run along the Frank and Poet Drain. Part of Trenton’s nearly 200 acres of park land, North McLouth offers a peaceful and quiet place for an afternoon picnic. Utilize the bike path to add a little added health benefit to your day.
