Elizabeth Park Venue to Open Despite More Delays

The Shelter Building at Elizabeth Park in Trenton is expected to open this summer.

Despite setbacks ranging from weather delays to changing contractors the Shelter Building at is slated to open this summer.

The building should be fully operational and ready for guests in about 60 days according to Lawrence Hemingway, deputy director of Wayne County Parks.

Wayne county officials recently hired a new contractor to complete the building, which is currently more than halfway complete.

Hemingway said contractors are set to begin working this month and complete the project by middle July.

The Shelter Building will be available for rent for a number of different purposes including wedding receptions and birthday parties--after it opens.

Hemingway added Wayne County is not accepting reservations at this time.

"Let's do one thing at a time," Hemingway said.

Elizabeth Park Marina

Trenton residents and boaters from all around are currently enjoying the , which is .

The Marina opened April 1 and is scheduled to close October 31.

Boat launch fees are $5 per vehicle and $2 for senior citizens Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays.

Marina Rates are:

  • Daily transient mooring rate is $25 per boat.
  • Weekly marina mooring rates are $90.00 Boats 29' and under and $110.00 Boats 30' and over.
  • Pump out rate is $5.00.
