City Council Meeting Agenda Preview

Here are the agenda highlights for Monday's City Council meeting at 8 p.m.

Trenton City Council members are set to reconvene at 8 p.m. Monday following the recent holiday. Members last met April 4.

The agenda for the meeting has a number of items. Here is a brief list of highlights to be discussed at the meeting:

GENERAL

  • Property easement request: Kevin and Tammy Spalsbury of 2633 Dickinson are requesting to have the property easement south of their home closed off. The two are requesting this because they believe traffic that does not adhere to a “Road Ends” sign could be damaging their basement. They claim to have spent thousands of dollars to repair the basement.

GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS

  • Trenton Goodfellows to request permission for the annual Old Newsboys paper sale to be held on Nov. 18 and 19, 2011. The Goodfellows also requests permission for the use of the Department of Public Works personnel and trucks to deliver Goodfellows food and toys on Dec. 21, 2011, with Dec. 22, 2011, as an alternate day in lieu of inclement weather.
  • would like to have a picnic in honor of their volunteers on at 6:30 p.m. June 13, 2011, and to close Elm Street between Third Street and the alley for the picnic.
  • Request by Nancy Richards of Trenton to reserve May 5, 2011, for a gathering in front of City Hall for the 60th annual National Day of Prayer for the nation.
  • Request by Rich Grossman, owner of West Grange Pharmacy, to hold an outdoor event on the front property of the pharmacy, 3390 West Road, May 14, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is to celebrate National Women’s Health Week from May 8-14. The plan includes a large white tent for guests and representatives of many organizations.

DEPARTMENT HEADS AND OFFICIALS

  • Request to waive bid and install E-Light Emergency Vehicle Alert System because no other company can provide this emergency alert system.
  • The Department of Public Works requests permission to dispose of unused, old, or obsolete equipment by auctioning the items off at Martin’s Towing April 29, 2011. The items to be auctioned off are diesel arrow boards, five walk behind mowers and a snowblower. The mowers have a reserve bid of $650 each, and the other items do not have a reserve bid.
