The owner of a black smooth-coated retriever and a peach-colored poodle reported the dogs missing to Trenton police the same morning.

Tips provided to the Trenton Police Department by Trenton residents lead to the rescue of the two very wet dogs, according to a Trenton-Woodhaven animal control officer.

The dogs were last seen by Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch editor Nate Stemen at about 1 p.m. entering a Big Kmart parking lot.

Several Patch readers provided up-to-the-minute information and locations of the missing dogs on the Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page throughout the afternoon.

The retriever was rescued at about 2:45 p.m. and the poodle was picked up at about 4:15 p.m.

Neither dog was injured.

The dogs are currently being reconnected with their owner.
