Trenton Schools Staff to Offer Support After Suicide at Nearby Middle School (UPDATED)

An 8th grade student shot himself in a bathroom at Davidson Middle School in Southgate, according to myfoxdetroit.com.

Superintendent Rod Wakeham said Trenton Public Schools would be offering support to staff and students at Southgate Community Schools on Thursday morning after an eighth-grade student shot himself at Davidson Middle School.

The 13-year-old student shot himself in the head with a .40 caliber hand gun in a bathroom inside the school and was rushed to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center where he died, according to myfoxdetroit.com.

Wakeham said social workers and counselors from Trenton Public Schools would offer support "to help those at Southgate Community Schools deal with whatever type of student or staff issues they might be having."

"I'm sure with the educational community, and how supportive they are, if there's anything they need we'd be happy to help them out," Wakeham said.
