Trenton police arrested two 16-year-old boys after responding to a report about two subjects seen going through vehicles at about 3 a.m. Feb. 16 in the 1900 block of Marian.
Police arrived on the scene and the two boys began to run. An officer exited his patrol car and pursued them on foot.
The officer on foot ordered one of the boys to stop and he complied. The boy had several items in the front pocket of his sweatshirt, according to a Trenton police report.
The officer said he also found a screwdriver sticking out the boy's right front pocket, a black jacket the boy said was stolen and several more items in his other pockets.
The boy was secured in the back of a patrol car.
While searching for the remaining boy, police found a Trenton High School varsity jacket that belonged to the boy in a nearby courtyard with several items in the pockets.
The boy returned to area where police had arrested the other boy to collect his jacket and he was arrested.
Police found a screwdriver sticking out of his right front pocket, also.
Police found several items on the boys at the time of the arrest:
- Cell phone chargers
- $3.86 in change
- Other cords
- Bags and packs
At least three Trenton residents reported items stolen earlier the night of the arrest, according to the same report.
