Police said the item the man was allegedly attempting to cut was a 25-foot metal light pole determined to belong to the Detroit Edison Company. The pole was cut into several pieces.

Police placed the man under arrest for attempted larceny and transported him to the Trenton Police Station.

Police said the light pole is valued at $1,000.
