City Officials Suspend Hiring Freeze for Trenton Police Department

The Trenton Police Department is currently looking to fill three part-time support positions, including a clerk and two dispatchers.

The City of Trenton has suspended a in order to fill three needed positions at the .

The suspension is temporary and will resume as soon as the three positions are filled. There will not be any other hiring by the city, according to City Administrator Jim Wagner.

The positions became available after three part-time personnel left the department. Trenton Police are looking to hire two dispatchers and a clerk for part-time employment.

"We're looking for quality experienced dispatchers or those that are willing to learn the job and have an interest in public safety," Chief Jim Nardone said.

The decision to suspend the hiring freeze was made at Monday's city council meeting. Councilman Tim Taylor made a motion to hire police officers to backfill patrol positions, but the motion was defeated due to ongoing contract negotiations.
