Trenton Man Arrested With Nearly 3 Ounces of Marijuana

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Trenton police arrested a man during a traffic stop after finding nearly three ounces of marijuana inside the man's car at about 7:20 p.m. Jan. 18 near Slocum and West Jefferson.

After pulling the man over for failing to use a turn indicator, the arresting officer said he could smell an odor of fresh marijuana coming from inside the car.

Police asked the man if there was marijuana inside the car and the man said, "he was in possession of about one or two ounces in the rear of his vehicle," according to a Trenton police report.

The man showed police where to locate the marijuana. Officers found about 2.7 ounces of marijuana packed inside a mason jar.

The man was arrested and transported to the Trenton Police Department where he was issued a misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana and a civil infraction for failure to signal. He was released on personal bond.

An appeal to all Prohibitionists: Most of us know that individuals who use illegal drugs are going to get high—no matter what, so why do you not prefer they acquire them in stores that check IDs and pay taxes? Gifting the market in narcotics to ruthless criminals, foreign terrorists, and corrupt law enforcement officials is seriously compromising our future. Why do you wish to continue with a policy that has proven itself to be a poison in the veins of our once so "proud & free" nation? Even if you cannot bear the thought of people using drugs, there is absolutely nothing you, or any government, can do to stop them. We have spent 40 years and trillions of dollars on this dangerous farce; Prohibition will not suddenly and miraculously start showing different results. Do you actually believe you may personally have something to lose If we were to begin basing our drug policy on science & logic instead of ignorance, hate and lies? Maybe you're a police officer, a prison guard, or a local/national politician. Possibly you're scared of losing employment, overtime pay, the many kickbacks, and those regular fat bribes. But what good will any of that do you once our society has followed Mexico over the dystopian abyss of dismembered bodies, vats of acid, and marauding thugs carrying gold-plated AK-47s with leopard-skinned gunstocks? Kindly allow us to forgo the next level of your sycophantic prohibition-engendered mayhem!

They will never make pot legal.Hard drugs should carry a heavy sentence but the police, judges d.a. and lawyers make to much money off the one's that do smoke pot. Look at the one's that make tons of money off it the bail bondmen's down to the judges then the private prisons[thats another story] to the prison staff everone make's ,money even the one that sells it. So as it goes in circles everyone makes the money except the buyer.
