Trenton Gives Final Approval for Combined Dispatch

Trenton and Riverview will proceed with a combined emergency dispatch service and lockup facilities.

After long hours and many meetings with Riverview administrators the agreement to with Riverview was officially approved Monday night.

for combined dispatch on Feb. 27 and Trenton council members gave final approval of the project at Monday's regularly scheduled city council meeting.

Trenton Police Chief Jim Nardone said the next step is to send the paperwork to Lansing for additional approval through the Michigan Department of Treasury.

Nardone said Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is set to announce the project on Wednesday. Trenton and Riverview officials are expected to be in attendance.

Other departments are in the process of approving similar projects. Grosse Pointe, Washtenaw County and Ann Arbor are considering combining dispatch services.

Nardone said the number one priority is moving some of the equipment from the Riverview Police Department to Trenton.

"Our number one priority is the dispatch center," Nardone said.

He added he couldn't be any happier with the overall outcome of the agreement.

Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack said she is happy the cities will be able to move forward with the project.

"It's been a long time coming and I think that it's going to be a great partnership with Riverview," Stack said.
