Trenton Athlete Named to Detroit News All-Star Football Team

Trenton football kicker Brady Tanguay was named to the Detroit News all-metro west team.

Despite suffering a preseason injury that landed him in the hospital for 13 days, Trenton High School football kicker Brady Tanguay was named to the Detroit News all-metro west team Tuesday morning.

Tanguay, a sophomore, did not play in the first four games of the ten-game season due to the injury, but managed to kick 16 extra points and eight field goals -- including his longest at 43 yards. Tanguay never missed an extra point in the six games in which he played.

Head Coach Bob Czarnecki said the young Tanguay will likely develop into a very powerful weapon for the Trojans.

"He's going to do more than kick," Czarnecki said. "He'll play receiver and defensive back. He'll play a heck of a lot more. It makes it easier to call plays on offense when you know you got a kid who can kick. He's an offensive weapon."
