Thief Steals 60 Feet of Copper Piping Out of Abandon House in Trenton

responded to a call about a possible burglary at about 9 p.m. Aug. 11 in the 3800 block of Van Horn Road.

Upon arrival, police noticed the front door of the house was open and appeared to have been kicked in.

Police spoke to a property manger who told them the house was abandoned and that she checks on it from time to time for the owner.

Trenton police said water was spraying into the basement stairwell from inside the basement. The city water department was contacted to shut off the water, according to a Trenton police report.

After the water was turned off, police determined that about 60 feet of copper piping had been cut and removed from the house.

Police said a rear window was also broken out.
